FINAL REFLECTION
11 May 2010
 

It has been a fun semester with our intense poetry practicum at Heights. After the midterm we settled into our phase two which seemed more student-oriented. We met at Andrea Kristina's, Boone's Thai Restaurant and at San Juan College.

 

When I reviewed our webpages, I revisited all that we have been through [let me rephrase that] all that we have experienced together, and I have kept you on your toes! You have demonstrated your learning through your genres, literary elements, book sells, author/illustrator presentations. Connie Gotsch shared about hero’s quest story structure and Karen Morrison lunched and shared with us the significance of young adult literature and bibliotherapy in her role as a high school counselor.

 

Phase two included the classroom part of our semester as we got down to the nitty gritty of genre, literary elements and reading lots of books! We talked about story structure, censorship. Your story relays are now compiled in our anthology. We had some great class discussions which documented your growing knowledge about children's literature.

 

I have maintained a Class Photo Album from our weekly sessions.

Unfortunately, we did not have time to play our FINAL Jeopardy Game, hower, please link the site to your own webpage for future reference. The answers were taken from your own literary elements and genre presentations and webpages. I think this is the best Jeopardy Game to date! Congratulations.

 

Our Censorship discussion provided stimulating points of view during our last session.

 

For those who are educators, your webpage, your peers' webpages and my webpage are meant to be Resources you will use in your future teaching as references. Your webpages were intended for your use. You have personalized them, made them your own as you showcase what you have learned about children's literature. Use it in your teaching.

 

For those of you who are not going to be educators but working with children in your future careers, I hope you continue to utilize your webpages for your own purposes. Remember, tripod.com is not the only free webhosting platform. Your experience creating webapges has provided a learning curve you to try creating webpages in other platforms, such as angelfire.com and google.com.

 

The past few weeks have brought on technological duress and stress for many of you. I apologize for tripod.com's technological glitches, not because I had any control over it, but because I chose tripod as a free hosting platform for us to house our intellectual property for this course. Some of you left your tripod neighborhood and set up house on webs.com. All of your webpages are beautiful, individual and contain important content which you created! I am proud of your hard work this semester. Thank you for trusting me with your learning.
