Donna Jo Napoli

Donna Jo Napoli is the author I chose for my author focus. I have read, Prince of the Pond and Stones in Water and marveled at the breath, range and diversity exhibited in Napoli's writing. She is among my favorite authors and I have found even more of her abundant work to read!

Donna Jo Napoli, who lives in Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, is an eclectic and prolific author, writing for children and adults. She is a mathematician, a linguist, author of picture books, young adult novels, and adult non-fiction books. Sly, the Sleuth and the pet mysteries series is coauthored with her son, Robert Furrow. Donna Jo Napoli is a professor of Linguistics at Swarthmore College.

According to the More than Magic Mirrors website (2010):

"Donna Jo Napoli lives outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is the mother of five children. In 1970 she received a BA in mathematics in 1970. In 1973 she received her Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures from Harvard University and then did a postdoctoral year in Linguistics at MIT. She likes to garden, bake bread, and do Yoga; she is a huge fan of animals and has had lots of pets."
