Hearning impared is not senstive when referring to deaf or hard of hearing people. Sign language is considered a foreign language. When we sign, there is a flow and fluency just like in reading. An interpreter is the ears of a deaf person and by law is required to speak out loud what is signed. Sign language has certain hand shapes. There are three types of sign language: ASL, Pigeon sign language & Manually Coding English. ASL is a complete language in itself.

Three types of hearing loss:
Sensorineural-cochlea nerves are damaged
Conductive - impairment leading up to the cochlea or ear drum punctured or Combination of both

Thank you, Vicki. The restaurant was an exciting place to learn new ways to express what we see. I feel restricted in expressing myself. I know my hands can talk but I lack the cognity dexterity and muscle memory of making my hands speak in intelligible ways. You are a gentle teacher and I
know if I practice I can learn to communicate in basic ways.
