Poetry Slam Spoken Word artists , kicked off our poetry collaboration with:

on February 9 at 1:55pm. Farmington Public Library Youth Services Coordinator Flo Trujillo and TEEN ZONE coordinator David Flores will introduce the spoken word artists.
UNM students in Children's Literature Spring 2009 semester will be coaching Leah Finch's 8th grade students
and Kelly Hanon's 7th grade students in poetry genre, writing
and performing during February through April.
The poetry collaboration also involves:
- March 14- Community Poetry Slam hosted by Andrea Kristinas 7-9pm
- April 25- FPL TEEN ZONE hosts Poetry Workshop followed by Poetry Slam Contest.
- Teen Zone hosts a Poetry Night on Tuesdays from 7-8pm
- Tibbetts Middle School will host a culminating Poetry Slam for students
an family at the end of April (date TBA).
- The collaboration is in part funded by the Bisti Writing Project, Farmington Public Library, UNM San Juan Center and Andrea Kristinas.
This collaboration is a very exciting project for the middle school students, UNM, the Bisti Writing project and the community. We appreciate the genrosity of spirit and support for the arts and giving students a voice and a stage for their spoken word expression.
